Mandatory laws most families cannot afford

I do believe that we must have laws in order to keep things smooth and to keep people safe. I also believe that there should be a fine line between laws and telling people how to spend their money.

Purchasing car insurance is now mandatory in order to drive on our US highways. I personally believe that every driver should have some form of car insurance just in case of an unwanted accident. However, car insurance is not cheap in any way, shape, form or fashion. In fact in my search for auto insurance for my own vehicle, one company suggested that I would have to pay $750 down to purchase auto insurance with them. WHAT?? I am sorry, but that is just plain ignorant. Most families including my own cannot afford car insurance let along pay a price like $750 down just to purchase it. But in order to avoid our wonderful boys in blue we must pay for it.

I do have auto insurance and it really puts a huge dent in my family's budget. I think that the Insurance companies should refund a percent of our money if we do not use it. You would think. After all, if i do not have an accident, then they just made over $2500
a year off of my family for free! Also in my opinion the rates of auto insurance are so high because it is mandatory by law. People cannot afford the tickets either,so they must pay for auto insurance.

I do know people who do not have auto insurance because they cannot afford it. Simple as that. Not every one makes $100,000 a year or more. How much a person makes does not matter, but when a family has to choose between auto insurance and putting food on the table I would think that feeding their family and paying bills are more important to them.

I believe that it should be a persons right to decide to buy auto insurance or not. I know that accidents do happen, and having insurance is a big help, but those insurance companies do not always want to pay. Greedy are they not?

In closing most people cannot afford auto insurance, and I do not believe the law should tell us how to spend our money. Not having insurance and getting caught will get you a big fat ticket. So what are families supposed to do when they really cannot afford auto insurance? I do not expect the greedy insurance companies to offer plans for low income families, or offer money back for no accidents either. What a shame.

Passionately expressed! Unfortunately, we are forced to do many things we do not necessarily choose to do; I guess that's just the way it is. We just have to "choose our battles" wisely.
Good luck!
