How To Get By On Less In Todays Economy

In todays tough economy, many of us are finding ourselves asking,"How I can save money". Many of us are concerned about the environment as well as our own checkbook, and want to help in any way we can. So how do we keep form stressing out about these issues? Here are the top six ways to save money and go "green" at the same time.

1)Changing all your light bulbs to compact florescent light bulbs will save an average of 10% on your monthly electric bill.

2)By turning off and unplugging (if possible) all electronics that are not in use, you will save another 10% on your electric bill. When things such as phone chargers and electric heaters are plugged in they use electricity even when they are not being used.

3)If you turn you heat down by only 3 degrees or turn your air conditioner up by 3 degrees, you will save
another 30% on your electric bill.

4)In the winter, after you are done cooking and have turned the oven off, open the oven door. Using this heat is a great way to warm your home and, save money.

5)Give up paper towels. This may seem difficult, but you will save an average of $240 per year and a lot of trees along the way. Instead use your old wash clothes. They are durable, absorbent, and reusable.

6)Consider a water filtration system on your own kitchen sink. This will save you around $480 dollars each year. If you use a reusable water bottle, you will also be saving a lot of space in our landfills.

In conclusion, there are many things that you can do everyday to save money and help our planet at the same time. If you just take a few small steps each day, you could save hundreds or even thousands of dollars every year and do your part to help save the planet.
